CARVED IN STONE: SANANNGUAQTIT ᓴᓇᓐᖑᐊᖅᑎᑦ (2020)

Carved in Stone: Sanannguaqtit ᓴᓇᓐᖑᐊᖅᑎᑦ follows Inuit artists, such as Goota and Joe Ashoona, George Arlook and visual artist Kailey Sheppard, who have dedicated their lives to sharing their stories through culture and art.

The documentary offers a unique perspective on how these Inuit artists make and promote their work in locations ranging from the arctic to urban centres to rural homesteads, while connecting their art to their lived experience. Many of the artists featured are also represented in the new home for Inuit art in Canada, Qaumajuq at the Winnipeg Art Gallery.

CONCERTO (2016)

Victoria is a percussionist with the Manitoba Chamber Orchestra who is given the opportunity to perform as the soloist in the world premiere of a new composition. As the date of the concert nears she must work with the orchestra, memorize her parts, overcome her fears and prepare to take her place at the front of the stage. There are no guarantees of success but sometimes it’s your turn to shine.

SOUL OF THE SEA follows the journey of Hayley Shephard, a 40-year old New Zealand-born Canadian pursuing her dream to solo kayak amidst the crashing waves and treacherous seas around the sub-Antarctic island of South Georgia, all to bring awareness to an endangered seabird - the albatross.

IN THE SHADOW OF THE CHIEF (2004)

In May 1961, amidst the snow-capped mountains and verdant forests of Canada's West coast, Jim Baldwin and Ed Cooper, decided to try the impossible--a first ascent up the 'unclimbable' Stawamus Chief. Within two weeks, 12,000 cars full of onlookers crowded the base of the Chief while the climbers braved relentless heat, mosquitoes and a barrage of reporters. In the Shadow of the Chief takes a unique look at a part of climbing history and the spirit of the community that rallied behind them.
